Public Relations – #Palestine_Alahliya_University, along with with the Palestinian Medical Relief Society and the United Nations Population Fund, celebrated the grand opening of the “Youth-Friendly Centre” on the university’s campus. This center will work to provide health services to students at the university through innovative and non-traditional methods and tools. The grand opening was attended by Dr. Imad Al-Zeer (President of Palestine Ahliya University), Dr. Fayez Abu Omariya (Vice President of Academic Aaffairs), Mr. Khaled Shana’a (Director of the Projects Department), Mr. Jeries Abu Ghannam (Director of the Public and International Relations department), Dr. Muhammad Skafi (Representative of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society), and Ms. Christina Blokhos (Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Palestine).
Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, the President of Palestine Ahliya University, welcomed his attendees, and thanked all donors, as well as all parties that contributed to the establishment of this center. He emphasized the importance of providing quality health and psychological services to the students and the local community. He stated that the establishment of this center is the critical first step in enhancing the university’s facilities, and that the operations of this center closely align with the vision and mission of the university. A unique aspect of this health center is that I will move beyond traditional understandings of health. The university pays great attention to the physical health of its students, as well as their mental health. Dr. Muhammad Iskafi, Director of Emergency and Clinics at the Medical Relief Society, pointed out the importance of providing physical, psychological, mental, and societal health services and information to young people within a holistic framework. Ultimately, this will lead to a fair access to health in all its aspects towards a healthy Palestinian society. He also thanked Palestine Ahliya University for their cooperation in building a successful youth-friendly health center with exceptional staff, services, and infrastructure.
Christine Blokhos, the representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Palestine, stated that “despite the importance of integrating youth health services into health centers, it is also good to have youth-friendly centers dedicated to youth health that allow the active participation of young people in all stages of providing health services and information.” Dima Zawahrah presented the youth speech, explaining that “this health center brings many opportunities for young men and women. On the one hand, it provides them with health services, qualifies them, and establishes them in a more healthy style. It opens the opportunity for them to carry out extracurricular activities related to public and integrated health.” The ceremony concluded with cutting the ribbon, the opening the center, providing a tour of the facilities, and showcasing a visual presentation of the stages of establishing the health center.
