The Community Development and Continuing Education Institute is working on the implementation of the project of “Enhancing Participation and Social Accountability” within the program of developing Area C, which targets (15) Local Government Units in the West Bank.
The project aims to institutionalize the concepts and practices of participation and social accountability and to open channels of communication between LGUs and citizens through many interventions that include the formation and enhancement of the social accountability committees. In this context, 4 training courses were implemented in the governorates of Bethlehem, Hebron, Jenin, and Qalqilya; targeting 15 accountability committees. Each training course lasted for 3 training days plus an orientation day and was attended by 68 committee members including 20 women.
It’s worth mentioning that this project continues for 18 months period and is funded through the Municipal Development and Lending Fund.
