The Community Development and Continuing Education Institute in Bethlehem held its ninth regular general assembly meeting, attended by the majority of its members forming a legal quorum. This is in addition to members of its board of directors and the executive staff of the institute. Chairman of the board directors Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, opened the meeting and presented the agenda intended to be discussed and approved by the general assembly.
Executive director of the institute, Mr. Khaled Shanaa, gave a detailed explanation of the institute’s administrative report for the past year (2020), explaining the projects and activities that were implemented, remarking the difficulties that were faced. Especially in terms of financing during this period and the mechanisms that were employed to overcome these difficulties by finding self-financing sources. He pointed out the administrative and financial strength that the institute has, in addition to the professional qualifications and capabilities of its staff, and their flexible adaptation to the critical health situation in the country, and their ability to transfer their work online.
For his part, the chairman of the board of directors, Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, indicated that the difficulties that the institute has gone through are not only faced in Palestine but the entire world is facing them. He explained that the institute is a pioneer in its work compared to many others working in the same field. He stressed that the projects provided by the institute offer an important part of the financial support for the continuation of the institute. Especially projects related to the youth community initiatives, debates and leadership, proposing the development of more ideas, activities and creative projects. Finally, he explained that according to the evaluations of partners and specialists, Community Development institute ranks as an advanced and highly progressive institute, administrative and technical wise, whether at the local, regional or international levels.
Dr. Al-Zeer, in cooperation with the Treasurer, Mr.Omar Issa, presented the financial report for the same period ending by 12/31/2020, during which he showed the financial flows, the size of expenses, expenses and revenues during the period. The report was presented to the General Assembly for approval, all inquiries and questions were answered then the report was approved by unanimous vote. During the meeting members of the Board of Directors were acquitted for the past year and the contract of the institute’s external auditor, “Mr. Akram Abu Al-Zuluf” was renewed for an additional financial year.
Then the floor was opened for candidates for membership of the board of directors of the institute and the following were agreed upon by recommendation. The administrative positions were distributed among them during an immediate meeting that followed the meeting of the general assembly as follows:
Dr. Imad Al-Zeer: Chairman of the Board of Directors
Mr. Anton Salman: Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors
Mr. Omar Issa: Treasurer
Dr. Fayez Abu Amiriya: Secretary of State
In addition to the membership of: Dr. Yasser Shaheen, Mr. Jeries Abu Ghannam, Ms. Rasha Sobeh, Ms. Rana Abu Farha, and Ms. Rana Ba’lousha.
At the end of the session, Dr. Al-Zeer, thanked the previous board for their continuous support for the success of the institute and its goals. He also thanked the institute’s staff for their performance and achievement that reflects a qualitative breakthrough and a bright future for the institute in light of the difficult health and economic conditions. He encouraged the administrative and public bodies to communicate effectively with the executive management of the institute to put forward ideas, activities and projects for implementation within the institute’s future goals.
