In partnership with Palestine Ahliya University, Community Development and Continuing Education Institute celebrated the end of the first phase of the “Sawtuna” project, and the launch of the second phase of the project. The project is funded by the German Organization, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). This event was attended by Steven Hoefner (the Country Director of the German Konrad Adenauer Stufftang), Mr. Mr. Khaled Shana’a (the Executive Director of CDCE-I) Mr. Jeries Abu Ghannam (the Director of Public and International Relations at Palestine Al-Ahliyya University), Mr. Faris Alatrash (the Coordinator of the Accountability Committee in the town of Beit Fajjar), Mr. Muhammad Masalmeh (the coordinator of the Accountability Committee in the town of Beit Awa), Engimeer Mutasim AL-Mashni (the head of the Youth Council in the town of Al-Shyoukh), Mr. Abdullah Al-Khatib (representatives of The Youth Council in the town of Tqou’).The event was attended by representative of the new partnerships developed in the second phase, some of which are Mr. Khaled Al-Saifi (the Executive Director of the Ibdaa Foundation), Mr. Muhammad Al-Azzeh (the Executive Director of the Refugee Foundation), Ms. Basma Jawabreh (the ExecutiveDirector of the Al-Funiq/Al-Aroub foundation), Mr. Ghassan Al-Sheikh (the Head of the Administrative Board of the Al-Majd Association for Community Development),Jenin. In addition, there was a large number of young volunteers and other representatives of the organization and its partners.
To evaluate the first phase of the project, a panel discussion was held. Representatives of the actors involved, some of which are Mr. Bahaa Arman (representative of Community Development and Continuing Education Institute), Ms. Elina Jabarin (representing KAS) and Mr. Muhammad Masalmeh (representatives of youth groups). Mr. Khalid Shana’a facilitated the panel discussion, asking questions about the many challenges faced during the implementation of the project, and recommendations for the successful implementation of the next phase. This allowed for the general participate and share their thoughts and opinions. One of the participants commented on the necessity of increasing the role of community accountability during the implementation of these initiatives.
Before concluding the event, Mr. Baha Arman (the Project Coordinator of “SAWRUNA”) presented a presentation for the next phase of the project, which will begin in early 2022. To conclude the event, certificates and shields of honor were distributed to the partners, participants and the funder. In addition to this, memoranda of understanding were signed with the partners of the second phase of the project, which will be implemented during the year 2022 in the camps following camps: Dheisheh, Al-Aroub, Aida and Jenin.
